How to Decorate Your Mountain Rental Property
Decorating your rental mountain retreat can be simple and inexpensive. You donýt have to hire an interior decorator, nor spend lots of money to decorate your mountain rental property. A few simple and practical things can create a vacation accommodation of a lifetime for a couple or family. There are just a few things to remember when decorating for a retreat that will be home to a diversity of people for at least a few days. Some of the things to remember are:
1. Use durable furniture. Heavy furniture is going to ensure that you get longer life out of your choice. Keep in mind that there will be an array of people sitting and lounging on this furniture. A lot of people use cargo furniture. To stand out, you can use something different like a fabric love seat and a couple of Adirondack chairs with cushions. Sturdy wooden rocking chairs work just as well
2.Use earth tone colors. Earthy colors will make the interior work in concert with the outdoor woodsy and mountainous atmosphere. Donýt forget your blues, and greens. They can be used as accent colors or base colors.
3. Bring the outdoors inside. Your dýcor should include something from the outside. If you are not into hunting, and get a fright from the deer head over the mantle, use a beautiful wreath or ivy type garland instead. A beautifully woven rug may double as a wall hanging. Topiaries work well indoors also. Just make sure it isnýt something that requires frequent watering. Putting pinecones in a basket with a pretty ribbon is a nice idea.
4. Omit Personal Photos. Remember that you want people to feel at home away from home in your rental so scenic pictures will work better. Just donýt pay too much for it.
5. Frequent yard sales and thrift stores. You can find all kinds of jewels at a yard sale or thrift store for decorating your mountain rental property. Small kitchen appliances, dishes and glasses are plentiful at these places. Gently used bed spreads and table linens may be purchased for a reasonable amount as well. Why not save money where bartering is expected.
6. Equip your mountain rental retreat. Your rental retreat will stand out with little extras. Although extra, people do expect to have a cork screw, bottle and can opener when those little things are forgotten all the time. Arenýt they happy when the find out they donýt have to buy one when they have one at home.
Board games and playing cards bring families together when outdoor activities are impossible. A grill and utensils on the deck would be a pleasant surprise (make sure you are not in a no grilling area with a lot of trees). Add a couple more Adirondack chairs and a small table and the family can expand the celebration!
However you decide to decorate you mountain rental property it is important to make it practical, welcoming and fun. Before you know it, your property will be one of the most sought after and youýll make money year round.
